The Connecticut Department of Transportation is transitioning CTtransit to a new state-wide route numbering system. The new numbering system is based on the areas our routes serve. Hartford area bus routes are already numbered 1 through 99. Local bus routes that operate in southwest Fairfield County will be numbered 301 thru 399. This change becomes effective August 14, 2016.

Routes which “branch off” to serve multiple destinations or make part-time deviations may be followed by a letter to distinguish the variation, as they are now. Whenever possible these letters will be linked phonetically to the places they go: Route 331B serves Briar Brae Rd. while Route 331S serves Scofieldtown Rd. and the Smith House.

Below, there are detailed descriptions of each of the route variations customers will encounter and when those deviations operate. This will help you make the transition to the new route numbers.

In mid-August, CTtransit customer service representatives, Bus Operators and Field Supervisors will also be available to assist you through this transition.
