Take Advantage of the Flexibility of the Go CT Card

The Go CT card is an account-based system that allows customers to deposit funds into a transportation account. Once your account has been created, simply ride any CTtransit or CTfastrak bus by tapping your Go CT card at the fare box. The value of your daily transportation will be deducted from your account at the close of the business day.

The flexibility of the Go CT card account means that users do not select any specific fare product, such as a 31-day Pass or 5-day Pass. You can add the fare value of a period pass to your Go CT account, and Fare Capping will ensure that you never exceed that value in any 31 day period. And, unlike a pass, if you have any unused value in your Go CT account at the end of the 31 day period, it will remain in your account until used.

With the new Go CT Card system, customers can take advantage of fare capping. Fare capping is a  pay-as-you-go system that guarantees you will not pay more than the lowest authorized fare for any period of travel, without having to pay the full cost of a pass in advance.

If you ride enough in any given time period to have earned a discount (days must be consecutive), your fare will be capped at that level. If you ride less, you pay for what you rode.

For passengers who ride CTtransit Express multi-zone buses, the Go CT Card introduces a new set of discounts based on daily 3, 5, and 7 day fare caps, similar to those available for local bus riders. These discounts are only be available through use of the Go CT Card.

The Go CT Reduced Fare ID card always provides the discounted fares you would receive with a multi-day pass, without any of the guesswork about which pass will give you the best value. Local and express reduced fare riders will also have access to 3-day, 5-day, 7-day and 31-day discounts not available with any other fare payment method.
