Detours in Effect for New Haven Closer to Free Ride Event on Saturday, September 6, 2025

Take Note: Valued Customers, due to the 15th Annual Closer to Free Ride in New Haven on Saturday, September 6, 2025, there will be major detours in effect from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The event will impact much of Downtown New Haven and nearby areas. Customers should expect delays and plan accordingly.

Bus routes 201, 204, 206, 212, 215, 223, 224, 228, 229, 234, 237, 238, 241, 243, 246, 254, 255, 261, 262, 265, 268, 271, 272, 274, and 279 will bypass all intermediate stops between downtown New Haven and the following stops during this time:

• 201 – College St
• 204 – State St & Court St
• 206 – State St & Court St
• 212 – Elm St & Church St
• 215 – Church St & Elm St
• 223 – Elm St & Church St
• 224 – Willow St & State St
• 228/229 – Putnam Ave
• 234 – Winchester Ave & Newbury St
• 237 – Shelton Ave & Goodrich St
• 238 – Dixwell Ave & Putnam Ave
• 243A/243B – Whalley Ave & Dayton St
• 246 – Edgewood Ave & Alden Ave
• 254 – Derby Ave & Boulevard
• 255 – Derby Ave & Forest Rd
• 261 – Sylvan Ave, Vernon St & Legion Ave
• 262 – Temple St & George St
• 265 – Congress Ave & Crown St
• 268 – Church St
• 271 – Union Ave & Meadow St
• 272 – Temple St & Garage
• 274 – State St & George St
• 279 – George St & Orange St
