July 4th Service
Customers riding routes
101, 102, and 121 must refer to the posted special schedules for July 4 and 5. The expanded July 4 service on 101, 102, and 121 will not appear in the Trip Planner, the Transit app, Google Maps, Swiftly, or VMS signs. All other and routes are operating on a Sunday schedule.
Before you ride
Customers must refer to the posted special schedules for July 4 and 5. The expanded July 4 service in the Hartford area does not appear in trip-planning apps, online trip planners, the VMS signs, or other real-time products such as Transit App, Google, and Swiftly.
Bus schedule
All and routes run on a Sunday schedule on both Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5. A regular weekday schedule is in effect on Friday, July 3.
Free fares
Every and bus is fare free from 3 a.m. Saturday, July 4, through 2 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2026. No ticket, pass, or tap is needed to board during that window. Regular fares return Monday, July 6.
Hartford area: expanded service
On Saturday, July 4 only, Routes 101, 102, and 121 add trips to help move the Hartford Bonanza crowd:
- Route 101 runs every 20 minutes until 2 p.m., then every 10 minutes until 12 a.m.
- Route 102 runs every hour until 2 p.m., then every 30 minutes until 12 a.m.
- Route 121 runs every hour until 2 p.m., then every 30 minutes until 12 a.m.
Use the posted schedules. These special July 4 schedules for Routes 101, 102, and 121 are posted here for your convenience. They will not display in trip-planning apps or on real-time signs, so check the website for accurate times.
Getting to Hartford Bonanza
Hartford Bonanza takes place at Bushnell Park on Saturday, July 4. For customers staying for the evening, late service runs after 8 p.m. on the routes below. The last departures from Hartford and the closest stop to the park are listed for each route.

Free parking at Park & Ride lots
Free parking is available for Hartford Bonanza on a first-come, first-served basis at the lots below. Lots fill on busy holidays, so arrive with time to spare and have a backup lot in mind on the same route.

Look for our Transit Ambassadors
Ambassadors will be on hand to answer questions and help customers find their bus at these locations on July 4:
- Downtown New Britain Station, 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Asylum Street entrance to Bushnell Park, 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
- Downtown Hartford, Main Street between Gold Street and Central Row, from 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
CTrail Ambassadors will also be on hand at several locations, including Hartford Union Station.
Service detours for the Capitol Avenue closure
Capitol Avenue will be closed for much of the day on July 4.
- There will be no Route 63 or Route 161 service in either direction between Broad Street and Washington Street. Buses will detour via Russ Street instead.
- Service Route 121 will bypass Capitol Avenue entirely. From Sigourney Street Station, buses will operate directly to Asylum Street at Bushnell Park then continue to downtown.
Traveling by train
CTrail Hartford Line and Shore Line East will run special July 4 weekend schedules, including extra trains for customers attending Hartford Bonanza and Star-Spangled Springfield. A promotional flat fare of $2.50 one way is in effect on both lines, or $1.25 for qualified half-fare customers. Metro-North New Haven, Harlem, and Hudson Line trains run a Sunday schedule on Friday, July 3, with a special schedule on Saturday, July 4, that adds trains for events in New York City. For schedules and fares, visit mta.info/mnr or contact Metro-North customer service.
